Outing to SemaphoreOur organisation was originally established in 2003 as the Welfare Centre for German-speaking Seniors by the SA German Association Inc. to support older members of the German-speaking community in Metropolitan Adelaide. In 2012 we became incorporated and have since been operating as German-speaking Aged Services Association Inc. (GSASA). We are funded through the Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) administered by the Department of Health; as well as the Counselling, Support, Information and Advocacy Program (CSIA) for Carers.

We understand as persons age, their culture and heritage often become even more important- they’re part of everyone’s identity. The majority of our staff and volunteers are German-speaking, and within our community a person is more than a number!

At GSASA we support German-speaking seniors and their carers to retain and strengthen their resources such as independence, knowledge, language, mobility, friendship. GSASA links persons back to their community; here they meet peers that can relate to their interests and background.

Outing to SemaphoreUnsere Organisation wurde 2003 als Wohlfahrtszentrum fuer deutschsprachige Senioren vom Deutschen Verein in Suedaustralien gegruendet, um aeltere Mitglieder der deutschsprachigen Gemeinde in Adelaide zu unterstuetzen.

2012 wurde unsere Organisation als unabhaengiger gemeinnuetziger Verein eingetragen und operiert seitdem als Deutschsprachiger Seniorendienst.

Wir beziehen unsere Foerderung durch das Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) sowie Counselling, Support, Information, and Advocacy-Programm fuer Pflegende (CSIA Carer).

Wir erleben oft, dass im hoeheren Lebensalter Kultur und Muttersprache wichtiger werden. Tatsaechlich sind sie ein zentraler Teil unserer Identitaet.

Die meisten unserer Angestellten und Freiwilligen sprechen Deutsch, und innerhalb unserer Gemeinde sind Sie mehr als nur eine Nummer!

Der Deutschsprachige Seniorendienst unterstuetzt Sie dabei, ihre Staerken zu erhalten und auszubauen- ihre Mobilitaet, Unabhaengigkeit, ihr Wissen, ihre Sprache und ihre sozialen Kontakte! Wir sind ihr Bindeglied zur deutschsprachigen Gemeinde, bei uns treffen Sie Gleichgesinnte mit aehnlicher Geschichte.
